Adalus is

an emerging Venezuelan cellist, teaching artist, and arts administrator based in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she is pursuing an Artist Diploma in Cello Performance with Professor Alan Rafferty at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music.

Performer

Adalus has performed as a soloist with orchestras throughout Venezuela and the United States, including the Falcón Symphony Orchestra, the Teresa Carreño Symphony Orchestra, the Rapides Symphony Orchestra, the LSU Symphony Orchestra, and the Holland Symphony Orchestra. She has performed with orchestras in Venezuela, Austria, and the United States, working with maestros such as Sir Simon Rattle and Gustavo Dudamel.

In the U.S, she has performed with the Baton Rouge Symphony, the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, the Rapides Symphony Orchestra, and the Ann Arbor Symphony. In the Fall of 2024, Adalus won the audition for a cello section spot in the Kentucky Symphony.

When she is not performing alongside Trío Líneas, she is a regular guest artist with chamber groups and ensembles throughout the U.S, including the Poieisis Quartet and Palaver Strings.

Adalus received her Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance from Louisiana State University; Master’s degrees in Cello Performance and Chamber Music, and a Specialist’s degree from the University of Michigan.

Teaching Artist

At present, Adalus carries out an important activity as a teaching artist. From 2019 to 2021, Adalus was a cello teaching artist at Kids' Orchestra (an “El Sistema” inspired music program), where she taught cello to elementary and middle school children in the Baton Rouge area. Previously, she taught for over five years in Venezuela. Low-Manzini has built a private cello studio of students from preparatory to advanced levels in the American Midwest as a teacher for Cincinnati Strings.

New Music Specialist

Adalus commissions and performs new music, especially by Latin American composers. In 2022, she received a grant through the University of Michigan to commission a solo cello work by renowned Venezuelan composer Diana Arismendi, which was premiered in her Master’s degree recital; and in October of 2022, Adalus was invited to perform as a soloist with the Holland Symphony Orchestra, in Western Michigan, where she performed the United States premier of the concertino for cello and strings by Argentinian composer Esteban Benzecry. Adalus’s goal is to continue on commissioning and premiering works, which she also carries out as part of “Trío Líneas,” her flute, cello, and piano ensemble with which she performs and competes in Chamber Music events regularly.

With Trío Líneas, she enjoys working with living composers and participating in the creative and collaborative aspects of commissions. Recent commissions and collaborations include composers Mikeila McQueston, Jelani Surpris, Paola Márquez, and Grace O’Duffy.

Arts Administrator

Arts administration and social media: two of Adalus' passions! They have collided in the roles she has held throughout her career, especially when it comes to managing logistics and creating musical, educational, and informative content about music for social media.

Since 2019, Adalus has been involved with the International Cello Institute (ICI), a three-week-long summer camp exclusively for cellists based in Northfield, MN. She has been ICI’s Co-Director of Operations since 2023 and Video and Social Media Director since 2019. Her duties within ICI include programming and scheduling the curriculum, as well as all things financial of this 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

She is the Lead Artistic Assistant and Social Media Manager at Center Stage Strings. She coordinates programming and logistics for the festival. Adalus collaborates with the Department of Creation of Digital Content of Center Stage String (CSS), Strings of Latin America (SOLA), and The Sphinx Catalog of Latin American Cello Works, these last two initiatives of the Sphinx Organization.
